THE STEPHEN HULL EXPERIENCE LIVESTREAM
THE TALENT // JD SHELBURNE
Singer/Songwriter and Guitarist
What drives you?
The fans drive/inspire me. I am always relying on the fans for interaction, responses on socials. They are the power and force behind my career. Sometimes seeing what other artists are doing as well can drive you. It certainly drives me every day. Checking out what is new in the social media world each day I wake up and try to stay relevant in the business is important. Finding new ways to reach my fans.
How are you getting heard?
Facebook, Instagram and twitter have been my strongest points. Facebook is a daily messenger/platform where I can make posts or perform on lives each night to reach fans. That has been the strongest way to connect. It helps me keep up to date on how is engaging in my audience each day/night. I have also been releasing new songs online every 1-2 months to building momentum towards my new album coming in 2021. Fans love new music and videos!
What's in your head?
In 2020, I lost 72 shows due to COVID so you can imagine how I feel about that. I just keep telling myself to keep pushing through, building fans and finding ways to reach fans through PR or just online videos etc. Even though 2020 was a disaster for the majority of my tour schedule, I have found other ways to connect with fans. I have already sold more merch than I ever have online!
Road yet traveled?
One of my goals is to find a manager that works harder than I do. Someone that can bridge the gap, get me bigger shows, put me on a major tour. I still have goals of landing a deal one day but until then I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing and building that fan base. I learned a long while ago that you can buy likes, streams, followers, boost your posts but you CANNOT buy real fans. I have built real fans for decades and I plan on keeping that fire burning.
